Dennis F. Kelly, MMA, CFRE
Chief Executive Officer
Dennis Kelly came to the MMA Foundation in 2006 as director of development. As its first full-time staff member, he built a comprehensive development program that will sustain the foundation’s programs into the future. In February, 2010, Dennis was named Chief Executive Officer. His experience as a nonprofit executive has proven valuable in the development of the MMA Foundation’s programming and in developing partnerships that will address the organization’s strategic goals.
Dennis has served in executive and financial development positions for nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities and elsewhere. His work includes Director of the West Metro Region for the American Heart Association, Minnesota Affiliate, Director of Development for the Minnesota AIDS Project, and Executive Director for Historic Murphy’s Landing. Before coming to the MMA Foundation, Dennis was Director of Development for the American Red Cross of the St. Paul Area.
He holds a BA from St. Thomas College and a Masters in Management and Administration from Metropolitan State University. Dennis is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and has served on the board of directors of its Minnesota Chapter as vice-president of education. Dennis has earned and continues to hold the international credential for fundraising professionals, CFRE.
MMA Director of Business Development and CFO
George Lohmer is a 30-year employee of the Minnesota Medical Association and its related organizations. As Chief Financial Officer and Director of Business Development of the MMA, he oversees internal administrative functions as well as the more public outreach functions of the MMA and its related organizations. He is CEO of Minnesota Medical Business Resources and CEO of MMJSO, a holding company of the MMA.
During his tenure as CEO of the MMA Foundation, Mr. Lohmer initiated and oversaw a strategic planning process that called upon the vision and expertise of MMA and MMAF leaders and community leaders within and outside of medicine. The result identified key areas for strategic action including medical student scholarships and programs to improve access to care in medically underserved communities. Mr. Lohmer stepped down as CEO of the foundation in February, 2010, but remained a key advisor to MMAF leadership. In September, 2010, he was named to the MMAF Board of Directors.
Mr. Lohmer holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Iowa.
Ka Bao Lee
Medical Student Loan Manager
Ka Bao Lee manages billing and record keeping for the Medical Student Loan Program. Inquiries about individual medical student loans should be directed to Ka Bao.
Shari Nelson brings considerable MMA experience to the MMA Foundation. In addition to her continuing duties at the MMA, Shari provides administrative and donor relations support for the MMA Foundation.
